Who are we?

Muda Consulting and Construction is a Lean Construction Consultancy and Project Management company established in Istanbul in 2020. Our aim; By adapting the Lean Philosophy, which has brought fundamental and beneficial changes to the industry and based on the idea of continuous improvement and adding value to the business, to the construction sector, it is to prevent loss of productivity in construction and add value to your projects and to prevent financial losses by complying with the digitalization and industry 4.0 trend in construction.
Our work covers projecting, design, planning and implementation of industrial buildings planned to be built in different sectors on the basis of the Lean Construction Philosophy. With this integrated structure, your projects have a design that adds value to the user and the product, as well as providing efficiency by preventing time and financial losses by planning the construction processes and material flow as a team and determining the anticipated problems in practice.
Muda Consulting adapts you and your projects to the new digital world by working together with the Building Information Modeling (BIM) program, which is seen as one of the first steps in the transition to digitalization in the sector, to prevent productivity losses in construction and helps you to control and manage your structures and processes after construction.
Lean Philosophy is the thinking system you need to manage the resistance to the cultural change your company will encounter during the transition from traditional methods to new digital processes and to establish the right communication with suppliers during the construction phase. We design and plan your buildings around the value we have created together with all the teams in the project, and by implementing the Lean Philosophy as a team, we identify and prevent possible problems that may arise in practice.

WHY LEAN THINKING?

The Lean Thinking System, which led to significant productivity gains in the automotive industry and later in the industry, is actually Toyota’s production system. The Lean Thinking system, which was created on the basis of the principles of continuous improvement and respect for human, aims to create a value for you and your customers in your processes and to eliminate your waste in the process that does not serve your purpose and creates a financial obligation to you.

While the industry and most other sectors have begun to talk and work on productivity losses, in research, the construction industry is one of the least efficient sectors, but still lags behind most in productivity and digitalization efforts. Studies in the UK and America show that inefficiency in construction is over 50%. This situation shows that there is an urgent need for digitalization and efficiency enhancement efforts in the sector. In addition, the constructive steps taken by the construction sector are also important in “Nature and Environmental Consciousness”, which has become a much more important concept today. The perspective of lean thinking that aims to use existing resources in the most efficient way before creating new resources provides support both to prevent cost losses in the sector and to make projects sensitive to nature and the environment.

HOW DO WE DO?

In the current world, the speed of innovation of digital and economic changes is constantly increasing. This situation makes managing large project teams more complicated day by day due to the increasing cost and time pressure in construction projects, acting agile against design changes, occupational safety problems and the increase in the number of people working in the project. At this point, we primarily aim to establish an integrated project team that has strong communication with each other and works together both in finding solutions to possible problems and in implementation.

We are doing Lean Design. Together with the project team, we create a value for users and define a flow within the framework of this created value. We create the design of the project according to the value and flow we have determined. In this way, we ensure that the building we build is used not only during the construction phase, but also after the construction is completed by the users in the most appropriate and efficient way.

We make use of BIM during the design phase, thanks to the 3D drawing of your project, we can see the flow inside your building, which has not even started construction yet, and we determine the improvement and investment opportunities that will provide you convenience during the design phase. We support your projects to be long-lasting and modern structures created with industry 4.0 and environmentally friendly solutions.

Unlike the traditional method, instead of choosing our subcontractors when the time comes to implement, we include them in the project team at the planning stage, give them a say in the prepared construction project plan, and we create our construction project plan by including the declarations we receive from them.

We create your Construction Project Plan with the planning method called Last Planner System (LPS). In this way, we aim to prevent losses arising from improper planning, which is one of the biggest loss of productivity in construction. With LPS, we adapt the towing system in the industry as a team (employer, architect, engineer, subcontractors, etc.) to the construction planning and plan each item step by step with the responsible subcontractors.

We are establishing a Big Room that can be used by all field personnel in the field. In this area, with the help of LPS, we do weekly and daily project follow-ups during the construction implementation phase, and we constantly measure and improve our current performance with the KPIs.

Based on the principle of respect for people, we provide Lean Transformation and Lean Construction training to all project employees, including the project team, subcontractor team and construction site personnel.

During the implementation phase, we create a field layout that is easier to manage and work with Lean Techniques such as 5S, Visual Management and Daily Field Coordination Meetings. We make use of A3 method while making critical decisions such as problem solving and material selection.

Together with LPS and BIM, we determine your material needs and times of need at the planning stage. Together with Supply Chain Management, we ensure that materials are available on site when needed, and we prevent losses such as missing / excess material, waiting for materials to start work in the field.

Based on the principle of respect for people, we care about the Occupational Safety and Health of all your employees working in the field. Together with our visual field work, we provide a safer working environment for our employees, and we make our goal of zero occupational accidents our priority in all our decisions.
